ムルタールの峠・トップ16

There was relatively heavy traffic, including heavy goods vehicles, and an unbraked 40-ton truck overtook me with less than 1 meter of clearance. I'm annoyed that I ignored a friend's advice to use the Sölk Pass.

The road to the Salzstiegelhaus is mostly asphalted, with about 3.5 kilometers of dirt road. The way up is also easy to ride on a racing bike, but the way down is probably a bit more difficult. Completely unproblematic with the CX. I encountered a few cars here, but the traffic was limited. The scenery is very beautiful, the gradient is very even.

With moderately good weather (cool with rain forecast) on May 1st, there was nothing going on here - probably not a bad tactic to avoid the motorcycles, even if it was rather unintentional.

From here the hiking trail splits in all directions and a bench invites you to take a short break with a view of Eisenerzer Reichenstein and Gößeck.

Unfortunately, it is a popular motorcycle route at the wrong time... My favorite ascent to this wonderful pass is from Maria Lankowitz via the old Almhaus (also with the racing bike)

Am up from Kleinlobming. Nice climbs. Was accompanied uphill by a swarm of flies, not much was missing and I would have turned around 😁

Ascent from Köflach: Never very steep and pleasantly even, very shady.
