Several rest huts are located in the Auental valley. Great hiking and cycling trails wind through beautiful natural surroundings 💚. A visit is highly recommended 👍🏼.

The history of the forest on Schwarzer Berg (Black Mountain), near the Elbe Clinic in Stade. The entire area has been a local recreation area for the residents of Stade since the 19th century. Many people probably no longer know that the first Bismarck Tower in Lower Saxony once stood here. It towered over the city of Stade. This tower was 22.5 meters high, and its foundation stone was laid in 1895. The tower was demolished on April 2, 1962. The oldest trees on Schwarzer Berg are approximately 170 years old. Today, it is still a popular destination for runners, walkers, strollers, and dog owners. A walk here is challenging, as it involves constant ups and downs. The paths are natural, with roots and stones scattered across them. Despite this, a trip here is still worthwhile.

The hiking trails in the Auental valley are truly beautiful. Information signs provide details about the local birdlife. With a bit of luck, you might even spot deer in the undergrowth. The surrounding area is characterized by stunning, unspoiled nature. Wild orchids in bloom create a vibrant and colorful scene 😊. Even raspberry bushes grow along the paths. A hike here is highly recommended and absolutely breathtaking ☀️.

A beautiful hiking and cycling trail runs along here. There are plenty of benches for taking a short break, and shelters as well. The trail gets hilly in places, so cyclists should be a little careful as there are exposed tree roots along the way. The Garden of Stones is located right at the beginning if you're coming from Harsefeld. Turn right, then left again, and you'll see it. A visit is highly recommended! 👍🏼

The 5th stage of the "Wilde 13" hiking trail also leads along here. The "Wilde 13" is not signposted or marked, but can only be hiked using a GPX file at the following link: https://www.dav-hamburg.de/dav/Wilde13 (as of October 2024).
