Several rest huts are located in the Auental valley. Great hiking and cycling trails wind through beautiful natural surroundings 💚. A visit is highly recommended 👍🏼.

The hiking trails in the Auental valley are truly beautiful. Information signs provide details about the local birdlife. With a bit of luck, you might even spot deer in the undergrowth. The surrounding area is characterized by stunning, unspoiled nature. Wild orchids in bloom create a vibrant and colorful scene 😊. Even raspberry bushes grow along the paths. A hike here is highly recommended and absolutely breathtaking ☀️.

In May there was still plenty of water in the pond, where many frogs were frolicking.

The 5th stage of the "Wilde 13" hiking trail also leads along here. The "Wilde 13" is not signposted or marked, but can only be hiked using a GPX file at the following link: https://www.dav-hamburg.de/dav/Wilde13 (as of October 2024).

The Holmer Sandberge are a very beautiful, quiet recreational area. A short rest is particularly suitable at this beautiful lake.

The pond in the Holmer Sandbergen was once created through sand mining. Later, an additional shallow water zone expanded the area. There are no inflows such as streams. Therefore, only rainwater or upper groundwater-bearing soil layers feed the pond. Climate change has become particularly evident in the last three years. The summers had very little precipitation, but at the same time the high temperatures resulted in heavy evaporation.
