Surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and mountain meadows, it offers an idyllic alpine landscape with panoramic views of the Aare Valley, Lake Thun, and, on clear days, even as far as the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau ⛰️👀. Accessibility: On foot or by bike from Heimenschwand, Schwarzenegg (approx. 1.5–2.5 hours, depending on the route). Easily accessible via forest paths – ideal for hikers and mountain bikers 🥾🚵‍♂️. Steffisburg Community's Junkernholz Hut The hut sleeps 8-10 people and is equipped with a bench, table, and wood-burning stove for heating or boiling water. Very beautiful and quiet location. There is covered seating (at least for 20 people). The Halten forest hut can be reserved (from the local authority). However, it is unclear whether a reservation excludes other people from using it.
