The Palatinate of Allstedt was a royal palace of the Ottonians in the area of today's town of Allstedt in the Mansfeld-Südharz district in the southwest of Saxony-Anhalt. This gave rise to a diverse high and late medieval castle, parts of which were rebuilt like a castle in the Baroque period. Allstedt Castle houses a museum on the history of the Palatinate, castle, palace and city of Allstedt as well as a castle café. The facility is a station on the Romanesque Road. Since July 1, 2022, Allstedt Castle has been owned by the Cultural Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt and will have to close for at least two to three years, possibly even longer in parts, due to renovation in accordance with listed buildings. The conversion work began in July 2022 and is expected to last 2 1/2 years. A foundation has acquired the area and is remodeling it during this period. Visitation should be possible again from 2025. That's what we were told today. 👍 We are curious.
