Beautiful castle with an interesting past.

Really a very romantic place that invites you to browse around!

The Veste Landskron is a little off the beaten path on a single-lane country road. But a visit is absolutely worth it, because the ruins are comparatively very well preserved. A club takes care of the maintenance and does a great job! The castle ruins are very winding and resemble an adventure playground. There is something new to discover around every corner and one intention is more beautiful than the other. Absolutely worth seeing! 💚

The castle is located near the original border between Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania, which ran a few kilometers south and east at the Kleiner and Großer Landgraben. It was one of a series of fortifications that protected the crossings over the Tollense between Altentreptow and Demmin (Broock, Burg Osten, Haus Demmin). The name Conerow refers to an early German castle from the early 13th century in today's Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the Mecklenburg Lake District. The castle complex is difficult to access because it is located in the middle of the Wodarger forest and there is no direct route to it. The ruins of Conerow Castle are located about 2.4 km west of the village of Wodarg directly on a bend in the Tollense. In 1248 the complex was first mentioned in a document. Today only the remains of the wall can be seen on a 5 to 6 meter high castle hill with a diameter of 30 to 40 meters. The ruin, located on the north side of the hill, is the remains of the square keep with walls 2 meters thick. The upper 3 meters of the masonry, which is still 4.50 meters high on the west side, consists of so-called monastery bricks. The foundation, like the interior of the masonry, was built of fieldstone.
