Nagelfluh is a rather strange rock that doesn't fit into the usual classification and is by no means a typical sediment. In fact, it's simply gravel that has solidified over extremely long periods of time, not through the usual geological processes, nor through pressure, but purely chemically and solely through the infiltration of calcareous water! Depending on how complete this chemical bonding has been so far, the rock is somewhat porous and sometimes somewhat crumbly. The components of Nagelfluh are incredibly diverse, just like the pebbles and boulders found in ordinary streams and rivers or gravel pits.

Very nice and quiet, there is something mystically atmospheric when you wander through on a rainy autumn day.

There are several paths parallel to the stream. We partially avoided the Sunday plowers. And discovered such beautiful paths.

The gorge is surrounded by about 2 to 8 meters high Nagelfluh rock. The gorge, like the Maisinger See, is probably a relic from the Ice Age.

A beautiful walking/hiking trail along the Maisinger Bach stream, along the right bank (in the direction of flow). The path is gravelly and pleasant to walk on. It also leads through the "gorge," where the stream has carved its way into the rock. In addition to the wide path, there are sections of narrow paths directly along the stream bank. Very beautiful!
