Heidenreichstein Castle is partially open to the public. It has been privately owned by the Kinsky family since 1961 and is still inhabited. Guided tours are offered, during which you can also look at some of the rooms inside the castle. The castle, like the whole town, owes its name to one of the first burgraves, who was called Heidenreich. The moated castle, the oldest part of which dates back to the second half of the 12th century, is considered a landmark of the town of 3,800 inhabitants.

In 1978 Dr. Martin Wolfer the already badly neglected building. Together with his wife he restored and revitalized the castle. It still serves as the family's summer home today. The building is largely set up as a palace museum and shows the lifestyle of the nobility in the 19th century. It also houses a local history museum. Dobersberg Castle is a four-wing Renaissance castle. Used as a municipal office and natural history museum.

The castle is privately owned and therefore cannot be visited. Nevertheless, an exciting old building from the outside. Story: Illmau Castle, also called Ilmenau,[1] is located in the market town of Kautzen. It was first mentioned in a document in 1337 and, as a moated castle, was part of the defense systems on the northern border of the Duchy of Austria against Bohemia. In the 16th century the castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau. The decay that had occurred since the 17th century as a result of its use as a farm building and later as a granary was only stopped in the last few decades. Although of little historical and architectural importance, the history of the Illmau lordship allows insights into the local social conditions. The history of ownership shows unexpected points of contact with the history of the country.

In 1576 the castle was already known as the "desolate Veste Gillingberg". A year later it came to Anna von Mollart. Around 1590 her son Jakob Freiherr von Mollart had the castle, which still exists today, built in the Renaissance style below the castle ruins. In the 17th century it was changed to Baroque style. It was destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century but was soon rebuilt. In the period after World War II, it was badly neglected. Renovation work began in 1980. In the second half of the 20th century, Gilgenberg was part of the Wilheim estate administration. Today it is privately owned.
