a little known Minnesota SNA that often delivers great sightings of turtles soaking up the sun at this very spot. I always make a point to slow down and dismount here for a break and also look for turtles.

Duck Pond and falls of the Little Cannon River I believe

This cute little man made pond houses wild ducks, and a couple swans that I'm not sure if they are wild or not. This area has gotten flooded out a ton of time since I have lived in Northfield (about 18 years now). They keep rebuilding it, and the birds still like it.

Nice bench place (bench could use a refresh, but the location is good). And a nice pond to look out on after you start up on the trail again.

Frontenac is already known for awe-inspiring blufftop views of Lake Pepin. But, this addition at the southwest border brings a new perspective with bluffs overlooking the Pleasant Valley Lakelet and Creek in one direction and the scenic hills of the park entrance in the other. This is a great bird-watching location. On the day I was there there were American White Pelicans and a Double-crested Cormorant flying overhead.

From this sand point projecting far out into Lake Pepin, you can feel the beating pulse of the mighty Mississippi River as you watch flocks of migrating birds and long lines of barges moving up and down the river.

Park is open all year, campground from Mid-April to Mid-October. Modern restrooms, showers, and a dining hall. 252 acres in total.
