The cabin is beautifully situated near a bridge over the Sandbach stream. It was built in 1976. The name "Roman Cabin" is meant to indicate that the Romans once traveled through this area. Opposite the cabin is a wayside shrine with the inscription "Peace".

The source of the Sandbach is near the Black Forest High Road between Hundseck and Unterstmatt. The Sandbach is 29.2 km long and flows into the Acher near Iffezheim.

The barbecue hut must be rented. Simply turning up and having a barbecue is not possible.

The hut is locked. If it rains, you can take shelter and sit down.

There is a parking lot next door where people park for walks or similar things. The cottage is quite close to the road and has no particular charm. But it can certainly serve well as a shelter during showers.
