Puigcerdà, capital of the Baixa Cerdanya region, is located on the banks of the Segre River, on the border with France. Surrounded by the high mountains of the Pyrenees, several trails start from the town of Puigcerdà to explore this beautiful area of northern Catalonia.

Puigcerdà pond is an artificial pond located in the northwest part of the town of Puigcerdà. The first news of the existence of this pond date from the 13th century, specifically from 2 December 1260, as described by priest Jaume Martí i Sanjaume in his book Dietari de Puigcerdà. Lacustrel lake of glacial origin located in the town of Meranges, Cerdanya. It is located at 2250 m, at the head of the Tova valley. It has an area of 5.9 ha and a maximum depth of 13.5 m. It is bounded to the northwest by Puigpedrós (2914 m) and to the northeast by Pedró de la Tossa (2695 m).

This is the route from the villages to the first two lakes. You start with a coffee at Can Borrell and from there you hike up. It’s a steep 25 degrees start. From there on it gets better and you will get rewarded with fantastic views onto the valley

Ideal area for a picnic and a walk through its forests and trails. It can be reached by gravel from Meranges or from Guils Fontnera following the forest tracks
