Quite an easy climb, however the terminal was missing due to work at the summit on the day of my ascent (mid-August 2024), hoping to return soon!

Mont Coin peaks at 2539 meters, nestled somewhat in the Beaufortain range. The grassy slopes of Mont Coin offer winding and fairly flowing paths, as well as plenty of opportunity for variation and exploration, in addition to fantastic views.

The rocky, moonscape summit of Le Grand Mont, with its distinctive summit cross, can be seen for many miles around. The out-and-back ascent from the village of Arêches is a big but thoroughly enjoyable day out, with steep, grassy mountainsides, Alpine pastures, marmots, hidden lakes and engagingly technical but not dangerous terrain. A wooden cross marks the summit at 2,686 metres (8,812 ft) and a rocky pedestal affords glorious views over the Beaufortain range and further afield towards Mount Blanc.

Located at 2,077 meters, this point is located on the same ridge as Crève Tête and offers an impressive view of the surrounding valleys and peaks including Mont Blanc.

Whether in sneakers or on skis, the Grand Mont is a must! The view of Mont Blanc (among others) at the top is incredible
