But the terrain is difficult, with some scrambling over rocks, through the water over slippery stones, confusing views, and often difficult to find footing even with hiking boots. One section is secured with a rope, but it's still difficult. Overall, a beautiful but very demanding tour with dangerous sections.

We walked the red route to the waterfall at the beginning of November 2023. There was a lot of water and we balanced from stone to stone so as not to get wet feet. That was no problem. However, you should be careful that the rocks in the area where the rope hangs that you can pull yourself up on can be slippery and that you need some stamina. Unfortunately, we had to watch the use of a rescue helicopter from very close up. An elderly woman had had an accident there. The tour guide on the island tour had already told us that this is not an easy hike.

Our route out was a bit tricky to find, and the heavy rain made it difficult to navigate. But it was a lot of fun. Many hikers came towards us and preferred not to continue. Luckily, we didn't give up. On the way back, we chose an easier route.

There is no more ladder, there is only a rope. Not recommended for the descent. However, there is a way around the route.

In my opinion, "Mostly easily walkable paths" from the tour classification is not correct. A good half of the tour goes through the creek bed or along the creek bed. Balancing over rocks and trunks is fun (once a quick climb on a ready-hanging rope), but it's an adventure route, not a leisurely stroll. People are happy about the Gore-Tex shoes.

During my hike through the Barranco de Arure, the ladder 🪜 was no longer there. Too bad, that would have made the section a little easier 😅
