An artificial reservoir to harness the power of the waters of the Esla River, the Porma Reservoir is the third largest reservoir in the province of León. An incredible cycling route with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Although this reservoir was officially renamed Juan Benet in 1994, after the death of the engineer in charge of its construction, it is still popularly known as the Porma reservoir or swamp, due to the river that supplies it, or even Vegamián, after one of the towns that were flooded after its construction.

The Porma reservoir is the third largest reservoir in the province of León, after Riaño, in Esla, and Bárcena in Sil. It was designed by the engineer and writer from Madrid, Juan Benet, and is located in the municipality of Boñar. In 1994, after the death of Juan Benet, the reservoir was renamed the Juan Benet reservoir, although popularly it continues to be known as the Porma reservoir, after the name of the river on which it is located.
