12月 3, 2025, Santuario de la Mare de Déu d'Argimon
Besides its fame for pilgrimages, it has a lesser-known detail: for centuries it served as a refuge for travelers crossing the area when the royal road became impassable due to rain, and the clearing there acted as a signal point with bonfires to guide those coming from Sant Hilari. The final approach is sustained but clear, and the arrival combines silence, fresh air, and a panoramic view that explains why Argimon has always been a beacon in the heart of the mountains.

Amazing views almost reaching the sea. The bike ride up is brutally steep towards the end!

I had climbed it more than 20 years ago and had a very distorted memory of it. What I was clear about was that the climb would be hard. Very good views, especially from the terrace which you climb up the metal stairs to the left of the entrance

Puig de la Creu is located 301 meters above sea level. Along with Turó de Castellvell and Turó de les Bruixes, it is one of the three points with the highest altitude in the Serra del Gavatxo. Close to the municipality of Brunyola.

10月 30, 2023, Ermita de Santa Bárbara
Santa Bárbara is a hermitage known and recognized by all the inhabitants of the plain of Ter such as Cellera, Anglès or Sant Martí Sapresa. Together with PuuigdeFrou they form a ridge line that shows the first mountains of the Guilleries from this northern side of the mountain range with a beautiful Hermitage, currently preserved and full of life, which gives us beautiful views of the area.

Great views even though I was in a hurry today. There are many tables and benches to sit on, but I have not seen a fountain and in the attached farmhouse I would say that no one lives there.

The climb is demanding, but once at the top the views compensate for the effort.

3月 14, 2023, Santuario de la Mare de Déu d'Argimon
Few know that, hidden under the imposing building of the Argimon Sanctuary, from the 18th century, the chapel of the old castle is preserved, which in the 10th century already gracefully dominated this mountain, which is also one of the great viewpoints of the region. A door with a double semicircular arch gives access to the interior of this small thousand-year-old temple, made up of two parallel naves semi-embedded in the rock of the mountain. The first nave is rectangular and the second is reinforced by a semicircular apse. Remains of wall paintings and careful restoration make a visit to this little Romanesque jewel in La Selva essential.

3月 14, 2023, Ermita de Santa Bárbara
The current hermitage of Santa Bárbara is structured in two parts.[1] On one side is what would be the two-story shelter covered with a gabled roof with slopes facing the façade. On the ground floor there are three openings, such as two small windows framed by stone posts and covered by a wrought iron lattice. But above all, the lintel portal with a semicircular arch with some medium-sized voussoirs stands out. On the first floor there are two openings of similar typology, that is, rectangular, with a monolithic lintel forming a flat arch, stone pillars and a worked parapet.[1] On the other hand, the hermitage itself is arranged, covered with a mixed roof, that is, half with gable slopes on the façade and the other half with a single slope on the façade. On the ground floor, the large voussoir portal with a semicircular arch stands out with some large and very well squared voussoirs.[1] As for the first floor, we find a rectangular opening with a monolithic lintel and stone pillars with a stained glass window that reproduces a tree. But in this sector the impressive belfry with a single lowered arch eye stands out especially. Its bell contains a long inscription. On one side it says: "Parish of Sant Martí Sapresa: Hermitage of Santa Bárbara 1952 Laus Deu." And to the other "Friends of Santa Bàrbara 2002: the friends of Santa Bàrbara to the Poble d'Anglès and to all those who venerate this indret".[1] The interior of the hermitage is a small chapel with a single nave, with two sections and a chancel and basically supported by two pointed arches with an arrow much more accentuated than the light. The section of the head, where we find the half-round apse, would correspond to the roof on one slope; The middle section would correspond to the bell tower and the foot section is where we find the gabled roof. In this sector we also find two important elements, such as a large quadrangular opening, with a monolithic lintel, stone pillars and a worked parapet, and a colored stained glass window that alludes to the crucifixion. The other would be a stone portal that communicates with the shelter.[1] In the section of the head there is a small altar table, as well as a small niche framed in stone that houses an image of Saint Barbara made in Osor following the resin procedure or technique.[1]

Hill with panoramic views of the castle of Farners, the hermitage and its surroundings. Access to its highest point requires the help of fixed ropes that have been installed to help progress.

Argimon, an excellent belvedere in La Selva and Gironès, however, we drove the last kilometer. We made the route through the shade before Sant Pere Cercada

The sections have a significant unevenness (20-25%) but have been partially paved, so at least they are safer, although just as tough. But the views of the region are impressive ...

Recently, its access has been improved with the installation of ropes that facilitate the passage through the most exposed section of the climb. It is worth climbing for the view of the castle and the hermitage and the panoramic view of the surroundings. Recommended.
