The Ricobayo Reservoir, also known as Salto de Ricobayo or Embalse del Esla, is an impressive hydroelectric engineering project located on the Esla River, less than 1 km from Ricobayo de Alba, in the municipality of Muelas del Pan. The reservoir is located in the area known as the Arribes del Esla, a deep geographic depression with spectacular landscapes.

Super nice place for wild camping. The showers didn't work when we were there. But that doesn't matter because jumping into the lake is wonderfully refreshing!

When they built the new bridge they did not destroy the old one. The old bridge is a perfect way to cross the Esla River without having to detour to the main road. Also, there are no cars on this bridge. The views are spectacular from both.

The Ricobayo reservoir and the hydroelectric dam were created by capturing water from the Esla River. In addition to producing power, the reservoir is also a popular recreational location with many beaches and water sports activities.

The green lung of the city, the Valorio Forest has become the space where Zamoranos and tourists go to clear their heads, breathe fresh air and play sports. This forest of 80 hectares and three kilometers in length, keeps among its stone pines beautiful treasures such as its entrance, known as Casa del Guarda; the pond with the Monument to Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, and the spectacular fountain of the Lion built in honor of this animal, emblem of the kingdom of Zamora in medieval times.

Just 2 km from the town of Palacios del Pan and towards Carbajales, we have the detour to the Peñas Rojas and El Madrigal urbanizations, following the path that takes us to the Club de Vela Zamora and without turning off to said urbanizations we access the beach that has showers, grass areas, without a doubt, a place of enjoyment and peace in this part of the Ricobayo reservoir.
