It is not a recommended route when there is snow on the road. The road signs are often on the ground where you cannot see them under the snow.

There is a circular route of approximately 6.7 km that will take you from the base of the ski resort to Lake Orri, passing through Pla de las Someres and the Pradell refuge. For much of the itinerary, you will follow the marked snowshoe trails of the Nordic ski resort of Lles de Cerdaña. In winter, it is ideal to start snowshoeing and enjoy the pine forests and high mountain meadows completely covered in snow.

Refuge that is located at the top of the protected area of the Vall de Madriu and that gives us beautiful views of the valley when working towards the bottom of the valley.

This refuge is the newest one along the Coronallacs trail around Andorra. The rooms all have incredible views, the refuge has WiFi, accepts cash only and it's 1 Euro per minute (shower tokens). The evening meal is 3 courses and was brilliant (black pudding soup, pasta bake and chocolate mousse). I slept in one of their 8-person dorms. Beneath the hut is the original 'bothy' (unstaffed room) which is still in use.

The Estany de l'Illa is located next to the refuge of the same name. The dam was built between 1947 and 1955, a period during which the workers rested in the former unguarded shelter of l'Illa. It took about eight years because, due to the weather conditions, they could only work between spring and autumn.

This beautiful valley, which measures 12 kilometers from one end to the other, offers numerous panoramic views that remain stuck in the retina. From meadows to crystalline rivers, through lakes, forests and powerful peaks, this place is magical and deserves to be explored from start to finish.

This refuge is located in the heart of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley. the current refuge was built on the former Illa free refuge and can accommodate up to 50 people. You will find all the equipment there (bunk beds, mattresses, showers, toilets) and can enjoy a catering service.

It was initially designed to accommodate FHASA workers during the construction of the lake dam. During the 90s the building was rehabilitated as a free shelter. At present the refuge of the Island is guarded and wants to be a beacon for mountaineers, providing guidance, protection and shelter. The refuge has equipment with great energy self-sufficiency and thermal insulation. Which allows, to welcome hikers throughout the year. The Island shelter is currently the most modern shelter in Andorra with 6 rooms for 8 people that can accommodate up to 50 people.
