This inn was founded in 1813 by the German tailor Michel-Henri Schmitz. It also served as a landmark in the midst of the extensive surrounding peat bogs, where travellers often got lost. This stream is the Polleur stream whose headwaters lie in the Polleur Fens of the same name. After about 3 km, the Polleur stream takes on the name Hoëgne at the confluence with the Ruisseau de la Baraque.

Beautiful newer wooden shelter built on the site of an old cottage. There is 1 table, benches and a nice fireplace where you can grill. There is also an outdoor grill. Renovated in 2018, this gold miner's hut is a welcome resting place for tired hikers. Both inside and outside there are facilities for a cozy picnic or barbecue. In cold and wet weather you can even light the fireplace, but only between 1 September and 31 March.
