A little off the beaten track lies this mansion, brimming with mementos of glorious Italian aviators. You wouldn't expect this in the middle of an old mansion. A little quirky, but charming, and worth a detour on the way to Ferrera!

One of the palaces built by Ezzelino III, known as the Terrible, witness to medieval Padua. The original manufacture appears to date from the 12th century. I haven't found any clear indications. On the internet they write that it is the ancient ruin of a tower, a probable outpost to defend the Catajo Castle property, with a wall on both sides of the hill.

The castle of San Pelagio is the home of the Zamora Counts, who hosted Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1918. By paying a supplement you can take a 45-minute guided tour to visit the rooms where Gabriele D'Annunzio was a guest, with various personal objects and where he is told about the flight over Vienna in 1918, which started right from the airfield created at the castle of Saint Pelagius.

The back gate was open because there had been a celebration the night before. The cleanup must have been a real challenge :-) It's interesting to see the courtyard come alive again. A great backdrop, a building you can't miss. Beautifully integrated into the landscape, look at this castle on the Bacchiglione River. It's a worthwhile destination for a tour; it's definitely worth a detour!
