Great place to stop

Incredible section, with a few tricky sections of via ferrata (climbing/scrambling with the help of chains). If you're fit and patient enough, you're rewarded with these spectacular pools. Recently reopened after repairs with a slight variation from the map route, so be sure to follow the red/white markers!

It is a wonderful protected nature reserve created from the redevelopment of an old mining site. The two lakes, in fact, arise in the old marl extraction excavations. The cycle/pedestrian paths develop within a protected area of high landscape value. It is therefore best to avoid behaviors that could cause damage to the balance of the environment and not to go off the marked paths. The intense rains of recent months have put this area to the test. In fact, we managed to get to the waterfall but were unable to take the road that goes around the lakes because it was interrupted by a landslide. From official channels always check that the route is accessible.

The Baggero Oasis is the result of the environmental recovery of a large area previously used for mining, located between the municipalities of Merone, Monguzzo, Lambrugo and Lurago d'Erba. Started in 1970, the redevelopment process led to the creation of two lakes in old marl extraction excavations. The area offers pedestrian paths, cycle paths, a children's play area and an innovative Stellar Oasis for astronomical observation. The old cement plant warehouse was converted into a "Park Center" inaugurated in 2015, equipped with classrooms, conference room and a hostel with bar/refreshment area. The Baggero Oasis is also a starting point for exploring the Lambro Valley Park, offering initiatives to experience and discover the natural beauty of the area. It is located in Merone, with access from via Cesare Battisti.

There are some challenging sections that could challenge a novice. For comparison: the technical difficulties of these short sections make this trail, overall, much more challenging than the river trail in Val Meria. A splendid canyon dug by the Inferno river at the gates of Valmadrera. The path is equipped with steps, chains and everything needed to go up the river and reach the waterfall. Along the way it is possible to stop and swim, if you are not too cold. Beautiful to observe how it changes depending on the time of day and the seasons.

Small characteristic bridge where it is possible to see the waterfalls of the lambro river. The surrounding houses are also particular; it seems time has stopped here.

Here you cross the Toscio stream, with its waterfalls and placid pools, inside which it is possible to see small newts. There is a small picnic area. From the Abbey of S. Pietro al Monte the route is simple, does not require equipment and there is a beautiful stretch in the middle of the forest on a slight slope. If you intend to continue, however, the difference in altitude will take a surge, 300m in about 1km, with sections that require a hint of climbing.
