Pontevico is a municipality in the province of Brescia on the left bank of the Oglio river. From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the river and the castle of Pontevico, and several cycle routes pass through here, including the Oglio cycle route, the Mello cycle route, and the section connecting Brescia and Cremona.

Founded shortly after the year 1000, the castle saw a succession of figures of the highest rank within it.

[Lombardy Cultural Heritage] This farmhouse can be included, like many of the buildings scattered in the Castelverde countryside, among the fortified agricultural buildings. And it is, among these, one of the most curious, if not its structure, completely traditional, certainly for the fairy-tale taste of the romantic additions, with their reference to a fictional Middle Ages. It is nineteenth-century neo-castellan architecture.

The Scandolara Ripa d'Oglio castle, also known as the Gazzo castle, is a fortified noble residence in the town of Scandolara Ripa d'Oglio, located on the right bank of the Oglio river, it was part of a defensive system located on the then natural border between the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of Venice.

From the Lombardy Region website: The large courtyard farmhouse, probably from the eighteenth century, has undergone a reworking of the main entrance, and probably of the corner towers, in neo-castellan forms (and therefore of a frank romantic character) towards the beginning of the nineteenth century, perhaps by the architect Voghera. The partial transformation, incongruous from a historical and functional point of view, however, falls fully within the context of nineteenth-century Neo-Castellan architecture, which had exceptional examples such as the castle of Costigliole, in Piedmont, and which it found in the Cremona area, thanks above all to the passionate work of the architect Voghera, a wide diffusion.

Formerly a fortified village garrisoning the Cremonese lands on the right bank of the Oglio, Scandolara also had a castle, probably from the 14th century, with a characteristic quadrangular layout with a central courtyard. Of the fortress, originally a feudal castle and then used, in a later period, as a country residence and rural farmhouse, only the western half is preserved today: the remaining part was in fact demolished, although the sloped base was preserved, which is therefore still visible.
