Magnificent spot to swim

Just above the town of Borgnone at the beginning of the "market path", the mule track that once led to the Locarno market and was an important connection between the Locarno area and the Vigezzo Valley. There are interesting testimonies of the rural world including the ruins of some mills and a bread oven (1884).

Lake Palagnedra originates from the construction of a dam on the Melezza river. The dam is 72 meters high and was completed in 1952.

Wonderful quiet bathing bay with waterfall and rocks. Quietly located and easily accessible from the bridge.

A lot of things are a bit overgrown, but it's still worth investing some time and studying the buildings and ruins.

This swimming spot is simply magical! It is located downstream of a powerful waterfall which creates numerous pools thanks to a flattening of the Pogallo river. If its crystal clear, turquoise water makes you want to dive in, you will still have to struggle to put your head under the water, which exhibits very cold temperatures. The bridge that leads to it is not indicated. So pay attention to the small crossroads that branches off to the right of the mule track. On very hot days the site is quite busy, but don't hesitate to go down along the river, a little lower.
