Frassinello Castle, located in the Monferrato area of Alessandria, has ancient origins linked to its defensive function against the Saracens, with the first official mentions dating back to the 11th century (a diploma from Henry III). Characterized by a C-shaped structure, it was owned by the Counts of Nemours and underwent significant neo-Gothic renovations in the 19th century, preserving a frescoed noble wing.

the castle, now a ruin, was inhabited until the beginning of the 20th century, used as a military hospital during the Great War and then as the headquarters of the local section of the fascist party, still intact throughout the first half of the last century, it was gradually the subject of dispossession and complete abandonment, so as to rapidly facilitate its degradation.

Montemagno Monferrato is a municipality in the province of Asti. The center of the town is characterized by the Montemagno castle and the remains of the church of Saints Vittore and Corona, built in Romanesque style.
