The first stretch of road to the dirt road junction is very challenging, even for mountain bikes: constant 18-20% gradients. From the junction for the 7 Fontane mountain pasture, the gradients are normal. The arrival at the mountain pasture is beautiful, with the Mucrone dominating on the right and the Mombarone on the left.

This Biella refuge is easily reached in a couple of hours on foot, via a dirt road. There's a nice picnic area nearby, and it's open during the summer and on some weekends during the rest of the year. It's best to call to check if it's open before you set off.

But I see sheep...so Maremma sheep...so danger...or am I wrong??

Beautiful, under Monte Mucrone... it's worth the effort

It is located a few meters from the Mombarone refuge, close to the path. But I found it locked

Pure idyll! Remote, uncultivated alpine pasture, where only a few cows cavort. There is a fountain at one of the rustic stone houses. Great view and a nice place for a break.
