Everything is very suggestive and a reason to return.

The Rio di Gea flows through a wild valley near Castel d'Aiano, creating waterfalls and pools between boulders and rock walls. Its course feeds the Orrido di Gea, a pristine natural environment, characterized by the spontaneous growth of the rare watercress (Nasturtium officinale), known for its nutritional properties. Along the path that goes from Villa d'Aiano to Montese, you can still see the remains of ancient water mills, once fundamental to the local community.

Beautiful, very special place

The Labante Caves were formed thanks to the river coming from the San Cristoforo spring, which forms a small waterfall here. The spring has an average summer flow rate of around 11 liters per second and is used as a water and drinking supply. Visited in summer, despite the scarcity of water, the waterfall is present with 2 pools of clear, flowing and very cold water!

In the locality of Casa Lazzaroni there is a jewel surrounded by greenery of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. We can admire this old mill, in operation until the 1970s, clinging to the mountain and which does not seem to want to succumb to the dangers of time. Near a splendid waterfall whose clear and crystalline waters form a bottaccio, a basin that collects the water that once operated the mill, emerald green with blue hues that, surrounded by a lush forest, creates a magical atmosphere. Just a pity as usual that the structure is surrounded by climbing plants that seem to suffocate the splendid structure that could stand out its contours and embellish it even more.
