Hi...but does this path around Grotta Maona have signs?

Semi-abandoned village (unfortunately like many others in the Garfagnana!), but which nevertheless retains an almost austere charm and beauty; after passing the village of Cocciglia (presence of drinking water fountains), there are still about 600 meters to the starting point, but practically they are the worst of the whole route, given the abundance of vegetation that invades the CAI path ... . Sin!

This section of the path (forest road former ancient Serra - Calamecca road) as well as being on a high slope is particularly bumpy and uphill is impractical in the saddle. With due caution, it can be traveled downhill, even with XC bikes, paying particular attention to the furrows created by the water, which in some points are deep and create danger, but can be bypassed with adequate technical preparation.

In the territory of Bagni di Lucca, near the town of Cocciglia, you will find these limestone gorges magnificently carved into the rock. Flowing impetuously below is the Lima torrent, whose waters increase as the snowfields melt. To feed them, however, there are also underground springs, which create tortuous structures, crossed by eddies and eddies, so much so that, over time, legends and tales about this stretch of river were born spontaneously. Some say that the Dragon Regulus is hiding under these rocks, others that the gates of hell are here. Today, however, the straits of Cocciglia in the Val di Lima are anything but hell, as they have become a paradise for water sports enthusiasts.
