In Teulada there is a wetland of great naturalistic importance, protected by Natura 2000 and part of the "Porto Pino" complex. Rich in biodiversity and fish interest, it hosts various species such as eels, mugilids, gilt-head breams, sea bass and white breams, exploited for professional fishing. Although there are no stories, typical products or particular anecdotes, the place fascinates for its natural beauty and its tranquil atmosphere.

The coastal system of Porto Pino, now a SCI, includes a promontory with sandy and rocky coasts overlooking the Sardinian Sea and several ponds (Maestrale, Is Brebeis, Porto Pino, Foxi and del Corvo), important for flora and fauna. The promontory hosts a rare pine forest of Pinus halepensis on a calcareous-sandy substrate. The area is also a fundamental stopover for migratory birds between Europe and Africa, offering opportunities for nature walks and birdwatching.

Between these two ponds, the view is extraordinary. You can observe many different birds, including pink flamingos. The path next to the road is convenient and easy. At sunset, this place becomes particularly evocative.

The Santa Caterina pond appears as a large naturalistic oasis of approximately 700 hectares overlooking the Gulf of Palmas, hosting a precious flora and fauna ecosystem. Adjacent to the isthmus that connects Sant'Antioco to the mainland, this lagoon is separated from the sea by a strip of sand. Over the millennia, the emergence of this sandy cord has delineated the boundaries of the lagoon area, fed by two waterways, the Palmas river and the Sassu river. Pink flamingos in flight will welcome you, adorning the spring landscape with yellow fields of gorse. At sunset, the colors of the lagoon offer even more intense emotions, creating scenarios to be immortalized in evocative photographs.

Between the sea and the lakes populated by flamingos, a show. The road is sandy but not technical, it can be covered with a touring bike or a gravel bike, provided you don't have tires that are too narrow. Enjoy the view and watch out for the flamingos!
