A varied landscape awaits you on your way to the viewpoint. The path winds through green meadows, past fragrant broom and prickly dwarf palms, and repeatedly opens up views of the coast and the wide sea. The point where you finally arrive offers a sweeping view of Monte Cofano, which towers majestically over the stretch of coast. The view of the bay that you have on clear days is breathtaking and invites you to take a short break and take in the surroundings. The scenery radiates tranquility and it is easy to sit down here for a while to enjoy the beauty of nature. Especially on days with a light breeze, when the waves roll gently against the coast, a harmonious picture of blue and green tones emerges that combines perfectly with the rocky landscape.

The climb to Erice is definitely a challenge, but one that is worth it! Even during the first switchbacks you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Trapani. The view of the glittering sea and the Aegadian Islands such as Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo motivates you, despite the steady gradient of 4-5%. It goes uphill slowly, but the view quickly makes you forget the effort. The road is largely easy to ride, if a little narrow, but the elevation adds up - to the summit of Monte Erice at about 750 meters above sea level. Ride early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the more intense heat and to take in the special light over the bay. And for anyone who might be hesitant: it is doable, whether on a racing bike or touring bike! Once you get to the top, you can treat yourself to a little tour through the winding streets of the city. A highlight that can be easily combined with a sporty tour!

Perfect and suggestive natural terrace, which along the climb to Monte Sparagio allows you to gaze both at the gulf of Castellammare to the east, and at the bays of Cornino and Makari. On particularly clear days, the view extends to Punta Raisi.

It can be done

Climbed with an average gradient of 4-5% you can enjoy a fabulous view of the city of Trapani and admire the islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo.

You have to climb from sea level to about 750 m above sea level, i.e. to the top of Monte Erice, on which the city is located.

The Scorace forest develops between 400 and 600 meters above sea level. The top of the relief, 624 meters high, allows you to admire a vast panorama of the Trapani mountains to the north, the Egadi mountains to the west, the Sicani mountains to the south-east. The Scorace forest preserves a sparse natural tree vegetation dominated by cork oak and holm oak, accompanied by downy oak and elm and by shrubs typical of siliceous soils such as the strawberry tree. Other frequent shrubs are broom, euphorbia, heather and other species typical of the Mediterranean scrub. The forest also has vast areas with artificially planted tree species such as stone pine, maritime pine, Aleppo pine, cypress and eucalyptus. Among the animals, the buzzard, the kestrel, the great tit, the robin, the hoopoe, the rabbit, the hare and the porcupine make their appearance. Among the reptiles, the viper stands out.
