🌊 At Offlumer See in Neuenkirchen, there's a unique feature related to the water, closely linked to its industrial history and current nature conservation efforts. The Water Outflow (Cooling Water Inflow) A distinctive feature of Offlumer See is an area where slightly warmed cooling water is fed into the lake. This inflow has an interesting ecological effect: Ice-free in winter: Thanks to the slight warming, this area along the shore usually remains ice-free, even during severe frost. Bird paradise: This attracts numerous water birds in winter, which find open water and food there when the rest of the lake is already frozen over. For nature observers, this "water outflow" is therefore a particular highlight during the colder months.

🔔 The "Klöcksken von Offlum" is a charming historical stop on the circular hiking trail around Lake Offlum in Neuenkirchen. However, it is not a classic monastery complex with preserved buildings, but rather a memorial site steeped in local history.

You can take beautiful hikes around Lake Offlum and you can eat very well in the café/restaurant "Ewige Liebe".

Here, slightly warm cooling water is fed into the lake. In winter, the area remains ice-free, allowing all kinds of waterfowl to gather and find food along the shore. Early mornings, when the mist drifts across the water, are a highlight. Enjoy the peace and quiet and take some time out.

There are a number of small places where you can go directly to the water. My dog knows them all.

In summer, the viewpoints on the lake are a bit rare.
