beautiful, at the Aeschisee

The Hurst Biotope was created by the aquarium association in the late 1960s and has been maintained ever since. Located in the middle of a wooded area, the nearby highway is only noticeable by the sound of passing cars. All kinds of creatures frolic in the ponds, and the surfaces are partially covered with water lilies. Further information can be obtained by scanning QR codes. The Burgäschisee, sometimes also simply Aeschisee, lies on the canton border of the cantons of Bern and Solothurn, with around two thirds on the Solothurn canton area. The lake is located in the municipalities of Aeschi (SO) and Seeberg (BE) at an altitude of 465 meters above sea level. The lake is fed by the Füürstein Canal, while the Seebach flows out. The natural lake is almost 700m long and 500m wide and is surrounded by a forest and reeds. The lake is located in a nature reserve.
