Life-threatening path, especially when wet with 1350 very slippery steps.

As of July 2024, there will still be a chair there to help climbers.

The fortress of Sveti Ivan or as the locals call it, the castle of San Giovanni is located above the old town of Kotor on the steep mountain slope. The fortification was built to protect the city from invaders. 1350 steps lead to the top. The castle was built 280 meters above sea level. The church of "Our Lady", which stands at a height of 100 meters, dates back to the 16th century.

Sturdy shoes are definitely recommended!

You have to climb up or down a wall 2m high (depending on the direction) without a ladder. If you don't have a problem with that, you can continue along the route. The risk was too high for us. If you don't want to climb or jump down, you should think carefully beforehand about which path you want to take (fortress inside or beautiful landscape outside). Otherwise you'll just run up and down twice ;)
