The bike path on the west bank of Dianshan Lake, located in Shanghai, China, is a popular route for cyclists seeking a ride amidst nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The area offers beautiful scenery, lake views, and the opportunity to observe the local flora. Bike Path Information Length: The bike path on the west side is approximately 7 km long. It can be combined with the path on the east side to complete a loop around the lake. Surface: The route is well-paved and flat, making it suitable for cyclists of varying skill levels. Traffic: The path on the northwest side of the lake is more secluded and quiet. However, it is important to be aware that there may be some vehicle traffic in certain sections. Views: The route offers panoramic views of the lake, ideal for taking photos, especially during sunrise or sunset. Nearby Points of Interest Grand View Garden (Daguanyuan): A classic Chinese garden replicating a scene from the novel "The Dream of the Red Chamber," located on the west bank of the lake. Zhujiajiao Ancient Town: One of Shanghai's famous "water towns," located near Dianshan Lake, which can be visited after a bike ride. Parks and resorts: The lake shores feature several parks, resorts, and golf courses, providing outdoor recreation options. The Dianshan Lake region is considered a great destination for a day trip, offering a relaxing break amidst nature and stunning scenery.

South loop is a must ride

Most beautiful cycle paths along the lakeshore and even across the lake

Another section of the cycleway around the lake, Mingjingdang (明镜荡). It is easy and pleasant to ride, and could be connected to the bike path along Baidang Lake (白荡)and the Brickkiln.

Road running through the Sheshan Park and touching on the Moon Lake (月湖). It has separate cycle tracks both sides making it suitable for bike touring ... or you can choose the main carriageway for road cycling. You can catch a glimpse into the Shanghai Sculpture Park, which is also worth visiting. Note: this is a popular tourist area with many attractions. I expect it to be busy with traffic on the weekends. I recommend you come early on weekends, or on weekdays.

New (as of Jan 2022) bike path along the eastern side of Mingjing Lake (明镜荡). Entry/exit on both ends to main roads, or connect to the northern/western section to go around the entire lake.

Nice area to walk and play

A pristine bike path, about 10km in length, along the shore of Yangcheng Lake. It runs on the Yangcheng Lake Peninsula, a large recreational area with open grassland, bike and pedestrian paths, wonderful views of the lake. Only few people during weekdays, but expect it to be busy during weekends or holidays!
