This pond always offers something to see. Last time we saw a crocodile and geese, among others; today we saw a cormorant, antelopes, wildebeests, and a few meters away, bee-eaters.

Beautiful area with picnic facilities. The hiking trail is well marked.

Beautiful circular hike possible in beautiful nature

Another nice, small pool with a waterfall. Just right to refresh yourself during a hike.

Dap Naudé Dam is tucked away, between hills and forests. It really is only to find if you choose to go on the Magoebaskloof Trail. This trail can be done in 2/3/4/5 days with huts spread over the trail in 15-20km distance. The Dap Naudé Dam has a capacity of 1.9 million cubic meters of water. Two of the huts are in the vicinity of the Dap Naudé Dam, Broederstroom Hut and Waterfall Hut. The dam lies on the Broederstroom River.

A small dam in the middle of nowhere but so important. This dam is the water Reserve of 25 villages. Tucked in between hills of the Lekgalameetse region, it’s not exactly easy to find but therefore it’s peaceful and beautiful. The dam wall is accessible, not like all dams, and stairs leading down the dam wall allow great views. Beyond that was unfortunately overgrown and inaccessible. An interesting drive to get there, going through small African villages on sand roads. These roads are not advisable after heavy rain.

Hiking trail from the pools to the main road or vice versa

The Peninsula trail goes along the Ohrigstad River. Leaving the information center, the trail heads down to the dam and then winds along the River. It is well sign posted and relatively easy to walk/hike. The trail is only 2.3km and takes ca an hour. It is a circular trail and comes out on the road to the information center just slightly north of the Dam wall.
