The old salt pans are barely recognizable. It's been a long time since salt was mined here.

A beautiful gravel road runs along the dam. Coming from the village of Avdou, you can drive to the dam. After the first gate, you have to turn right into the olive groves, otherwise you will find yourself in front of locked gates. It's best to just plan in Komoot and I can't say for sure whether the road will be passable BEFORE October. You'd better find out more here.

The official path has a bay with a bench. From there you can walk a short distance to the water and swim in a beautiful lake. The water is relatively cold, but very refreshing on warm days. The depth is about 1.6m at the deepest point.

Lake Voulismeni is surrounded by a promenade with taverns and bars. The former freshwater lake was connected to the seaport by a canal in 1870.

It's rather depressing here. The surroundings are really beautiful with paths through the olive groves, but the reservoir really has nothing attractive about it, and the abandoned ruins are probably not even suitable as a lost place. It's better to head for other destinations in the area.

Access to this waterfall is a bit difficult as you have to climb between large stones. But you are rewarded with a beautiful paradise. A small waterfall and a small pool with crystal clear water to cool off in.
