When you're on the Hærvejen route near Nørre Snede, the Nørre Snede Shelter and Fire Pit is a great overnight visit that offers a simple, but authentic, place to rest and spend the night. You'll find a basic wooden shelter for protection from the elements and a fire pit where you can cook a warm meal or simply enjoy the crackling flames under the stars. It's a fantastic example of the many primitive camping options available to hikers in Denmark.

Den Jyske Højderyg, 8600 Silkeborg The shelter is equipped with a simple shelter for 8 people, a sturdy table/bench set, a campfire area with grill, a dry toilet and its own well water. The fountain was freed from rust in spring 2011. Due to the rust, the water may be slightly discolored, but is not harmful to health. It may help to pump a few liters of water before drinking it. The well is checked every year for drinking water quality. In addition, there is plenty of space for possible tents. You can also find wild strawberries and wood sorrel in the surrounding nature.
