The climb is rated as a T3, but is no problem for experienced hikers. Beginners should still be cautious, as they will need to use their hands to negotiate the rocky terrain, especially in the final few meters. Nevertheless, the climb to the summit is marked with red dots, and a path is always clearly visible. The climb is steep but not exposed. The view over the greater Athens and Atticka area is breathtaking and well worth the effort. Watch your feet and be careful of loose stones on the descent. If it's raining, you should avoid the climb.

A must climb for training

There are several hiking trails leading to this peak. In spring and summer it can get very hot as there are few trees to provide shade. The terrain is very rocky and steep in places. Good footwear and surefootedness are recommended. The view of Athens and the surrounding area is fantastic.

The ascent to the top of Mount Parnitha is a special experience for anyone who enjoys travelling on two wheels. The road winds its way up the mountain with a gentle, steady incline - not too steep, but challenging enough to keep your muscles moving. The asphalt is in good condition, which makes the ride pleasant as the landscape opens up around you. On your way up, you will be accompanied by the rough beauty of the rocks and the sparse vegetation. The isolated, wind-shaped trees that decorate the mountainside are particularly striking - they tell of the harsh climate up here. The curves keep offering new perspectives on the surrounding landscape and invite you to stop for a short while to enjoy the view. Once you reach the summit, not only a magnificent view awaits you, but also the old, abandoned sanatorium, which exudes a mysterious atmosphere. It is worth stopping for a moment and taking in the peace and quiet before you start the descent. This section is located in the protected natural park Δρυμός Πάρνηθας – so please pay attention to the applicable regulations and respect nature.

A well-maintained and easy-to-walk sandy path with stairs leads west up to the 260m summit. It's pleasant to walk in the partial shade and as you climb you can enjoy great views over the metropolis and the Acropolis.
