We start in Miðvágur, pay the entrance fee for the first time on this vacation, and walk up the Trælanípa cliff toward the waterfall. Trælanípa (Faroese for Slave Cliff) is a 148-meter-high cliff on the south coast of the island of Vágar. It's a popular tourist destination and offers spectacular views of Lake Leitisvatn, which appears to float above the sea. The name "Slave Cliff" comes from the old legend that disabled Irish slaves were pushed into the sea from here. There are hiking trails leading to the cliff. However, we are only allowed to take one path because it is still breeding season...🪺🐣🐤

You have to look for your way. You can only cross the river at a shallow point, but you can still go somewhere. Beautiful lake!

From here you can walk up to Fjällvatn. Approx. 5.5km, easy to walk. Very suitable when the clouds are low

Wonderful view from slightly above of the lake between the mountains. Good tour when the sky is overcast, as you don't get into the clouds.

When we tried to take the entrance to this path, the owner of the land came with his dog in his Pick up truck, looking grim, to make sure we can’t walk here without paying the fee of 200 DKK per Person. Also at the entrance were Bulls on the field as an extra tourist repellent. Because of the land owner attitude I’d recommend to skip this “attraction”.

Nice hiking trail along the Leitisvatn, which is about 60m above sea level!
