Festive atmosphere everywhere Throughout Norway, the spectacular event surrounding the midnight sun is celebrated with dancing, music, games, boat trips, and bonfires until late into the night. Along the coast, residents flock to the fjords in their boats to light a fire on one of the many small islands and enjoy a cozy gathering with family and friends. No one thinks about sleeping here – the search for a nice spot begins in the afternoon, where they can spend the day enjoying themselves until late into the night. In convivial company, people enjoy typical Norwegian fish and Norwegian beer.

This is the second ascent to the North Cape. My picture is from a few kilometers earlier. The climb can be seen in the background. With a headwind and side gusts of approximately 40 km/h, it's best approached with caution, especially higher up. One picture shows me taking a break before the ascent, sheltered from the wind by a snowplow. The overall experience is unique and worth all the effort!

It's a great place for hiking.

I recommend the Strand Camping site a few meters away, right next to River Camping. It's a bit more spacious and the owners are very friendly. You can walk through the bush down to the river.

The last few meters to the North Cape. There are some very tough climbs until you make it.

Reindeer are quite common in this region. We saw the first about 100km south of the Arctic Circle. From there on we saw a large number several times a day. They are usually more afraid of people on bicycles than of cars.

Komsatoppen (213 m) is Alta's local mountain. Once you reach the top, you're rewarded with a fantastic view over Alta and the surrounding area. TOP! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
