Brahehus was built by the imperial regent Per Brahe the Younger in the mid-17th century. The palace was originally intended as a pleasure palace. However, the plans were changed in 1645. The palace was intended to be a widow's residence for Per Brahe the Younger's wife, Kristine Katarina Stenbock. She died a few years later, however. The stately palace was instead used as a guesthouse. In 1708, the palace was destroyed in a fire and has since fallen into disrepair. Restoration work was carried out in the 20th century. Old castle ruins. Beautiful backdrop for photos. No special equipment required. Cyclists should note that bicycles are not permitted there.

The castle at Hultaby consists of three parts

A great, secluded rest area with an even better view of the castle ruins. If you have some time and don't want to stop right at the parking lot, you can walk a few meters and relax here. There's also a small beach for swimmers.

The castle ruins were left to decay for years. The first restoration work didn't take place until 1934, followed by further restorations in the 1960s and 1980s.

The core foundation of the castle, which is more likely a borg ruin, still stands. The large entrance staircase and a side staircase are very well preserved. Some wall fragments can still be seen on the hill. The old well is unfortunately used as a trash can. Not so pretty. But the view of the lake from the ruins is all the more beautiful.

All that remains of the very small castle are the main foundation, the main staircase, a side staircase, and a few pieces of wall. The old well shaft unfortunately resembles a trash can. The view of the lake is absolutely magnificent!
