Very comfortable rest area. If you are cycling along the cycle path you should take a little detour here for a break.

The hemp lake is silting up more and more and today no longer has any free water surfaces. So the bog is gradually disappearing.

Been there again after about 35 years... used to swim there often. Still a very nice, quiet spot. The water quality probably no longer invites you to swim, it is now a leased water. Certainly top for anglers. For an extended break on the tour, however, 👍 👍 👍.

The Sonder forest area has been a nature reserve since 1961 and, together with the neighboring forest areas on Oberholz and Großer Horn, is part of the European NATURA 2000 system of protected areas. The core of the area is the hemp lake, which was created by leaching rock salts in the geological subsoil. It is the largest of what were previously six sinkholes of this type. These sinkholes filled with water over a long period of time, creating lakes with no natural inflow and outflow, so they were fed solely by rainwater. The area is partly in a renovated, but also in a disintegrated state. It exudes its own charm. The walk through the small park and the peace and quiet at the 2 ponds is pleasant and invites you to rest.

There is a small witch's house right next door 🏚️

The Hanfsee is located in the Große Sonder forest area. Unfortunately, the paths are very overgrown.

The nature reserve "Herbslebener Teiche" lies about 3 kilometers outside the municipality Herbsleben in an easterly direction and today covers an area of 99.3 hectares. Since 1993 this area has been declared a "European bird sanctuary" because native birds, insects and amphibians, some of which are threatened with extinction, have resettled there. The water areas are managed by the sport fishing association and used for fishing.
