現在のフラウエンゼー城は、1632年から1634年にヘッセン＝カッセル方伯領の官舎として建設されました。それは、1200年頃に設立され、宗教改革の過程で1536年に解散したフラウエンゼーの元シトー会修道院の基礎の上に建てられました。 このルネサンス様式の建物は、周辺のザクセン地域にあるヘッセンの飛び地であったフラウエンゼー官区の行政および司法の中心地として機能しました。特に際立っているのは、中央の塔とラテン語の碑文があるポータルです。 „Salus sit exeuntibus, similiter pax intrantibus“ （「去る者には救いを、入る者には同様に平和を」） 入り口の上には、1634年の年号が入ったヘッセンの紋章があります。今日、城はフラウエンゼーの郷土資料館などを収容しており、歴史的なランドマークとして湖畔の町の景観を形作っています。

The island pond is part of the former park of the Hessen-Philippsthal family. Unfortunately, there's a lack of funds to improve the renovation. The kiosk is worth a visit, though. Delicious cakes.

A former manor house in the Baroque style, which is now referred to as a "castle". In preparation for the town's anniversary, archaeological excavations were carried out in the castle courtyard, and traces and remains of walls from the former Frauensee monastery complex were found. The current castle, built between 1632 and 1634 by Landgrave Wilhelm of Hesse-Kassel, is the seat of the local administration and houses the local history museum.

Here a herd of Taurus cattle comes quite close to you. A beautiful photo opportunity and an interesting and close encounter, especially for children.

There is a small natural barbecue area directly behind the island pond. At the edge of the forest you can refresh yourself with fresh spring water at a beautiful wooden fountain.

Very beautiful area and definitely worth seeing. Lots of water birds and especially water buffalo. Unfortunately, on some days it is almost "overcrowded" because it is very popular.
