The "Old Tambach Dam" now lives up to its name. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and completed in 1905. Then as now, the dam serves to supply drinking water to Tambach-Dietharz and the surrounding area. Its capacity is 778,000 cubic meters of water, making it the smaller of the two Tambach dams.

A very beautiful complex with great plants, from above you have a wonderful view over the main market and the historic town hall.

Gabriele Leuschner - wood sculptor in Erfurt, born 16.10.1945 in Treffurt, member of the Thuringian Art and Crafts Association, has studied Georgenthal's history and created this successful sculpture "Cistercian Monks". She used the character of the stainless steel material and limited her formal language to the essentials. The "swimming" monks are located here on former monastery grounds. The current park ponds were the original monastery ponds in the immediate vicinity of the monastery mill and the once magnificent Cistercian monastery of Georgenthal. (...from information board)
