A beautiful path from Gera-Untermhaus to Ernsee.

A shoe factory stood on this site in the 20th century. It was founded by Adolph Zimmer. In 1923, he expanded the factory grounds with a building along Aumaer Straße. Chemicals were stored in this cellar. After shoe production ceased in 1990, the factory building stood empty. It was demolished in 2009 as part of the city center redevelopment. During the demolition, this grotto was discovered beneath Aumaer Straße.

Beautiful gorge at the edge of Untermhaus. Fire salamanders can be found in the Fuchsklamm.

A great way, especially the descent is incredibly fun.

The artists Wolfgang R. Funk and Frank Lohse created the cave installation "Im Hades" in a cave of unknown origin. Filigree bats made of glass float through "Hades", as the two artists call their installation.

The Warnsdorfgrund is a narrow valley with umpteen ponds and here and there a nice seating area to linger.

Via a wooden staircase with approx. 200 steps you cross a steep Kerbtal called the Fuchsklamm. In the early days of hiking tourism at the beginning of the last century, the valley spanned the so-called Hermannsbrücke. The Hermannsbrücke connected Gera with the summer resort of Ernsee and was a huge wooden structure, which was exposed to wind and weather and, due to lack of appropriate maintenance (wartime 1st World War ...), did not have a long lifespan.

In Untermhaus the Fuchsklamm leads into the city forest and from there e.g. also after Ernsee.
