The Green House was built in 1727 as a hunting lodge and since then has served the dukes as a bad-weather shelter and "dining room". The two-storey building with a wooden gazebo is located in a forest clearing near the Rieseneck hunting facility. The simply furnished building has a kitchen, a living room, several bedrooms on the upper floor and attic and a balcony. The ensemble of the Green House in the immediate vicinity includes the former stables, the coach house, a venison cellar with a dry floor and the well house built in GDR times.

The half-timbered house stands alone, next to huts, in the middle of the forest and used to serve as a hunting lodge for the princes. In the 1920s, the Siebshaus was a lively youth club for the social-democratic "Friends of Nature". Today the hunting lodge is owned by the Thuringian forest office in Stadtroda.
