Marienthal Castle, also known as Marienthal Estate or Marienthal Manor House, is a listed building in Marienthal.

Since 2020 | Part of Toskanaworld AG The Order's castle in Liebstedt is to be a "place of peace and dialogue in the middle of Germany" in the future, in complete contrast to its original use as protection from enemies. This is the forward-looking idea of Toskanaworld CEO & castle owner Klaus Dieter Böhm for the last, largely preserved building complex of the German Order of Knights in Thuringia.

A documentary mention attests that King Otto I donated his royal estate in Liebstedt and Oßmannstedt to the Quedlinburg monastery. This includes the entire population of both villages.

Water castle, rampart castle, low-lying castle The first castle fortress was built around 900 by its Saxon lords as protection against the Slavs and other possible invaders. It is the last, largely preserved building complex of the Teutonic Order in Thuringia.

Unfortunately, at the moment (9/23) it can only be viewed from the outside. According to an employee, it will be open again at least on weekends.

Today's castle is a baroque three-wing complex. The south wing has two floors and is in the neo-baroque and early classical style. Some decorated interiors have been preserved in the south wing, including the library and the staircase. The extensive park also belongs to the castle.

This place, this castle is somehow well hidden. You can't get past it that easily. The linden tree in the palace grounds is buzzing with insects when the linden blossoms.
