The castle chapel was renovated in 2000 with funding from the German Foundation for Monument Protection.

Lohra Castle, also known as Groß Lohra, Großlohra, Schlossberg, or Löhra, is the ruins of a hilltop castle in Großlohra in the Thuringian district of Nordhausen. It is the castle of the Counts of Lohra, dating back to the 12th century, and, with a large proportion of medieval buildings, is almost completely preserved. An interesting object! It was not possible to determine whether accommodation was still possible. Unfortunately there was no contact information on site. It originally belonged to the noble family of Thuringia von Bila, and was e.g. a manor. From 1945-1997 it was used as a children's sanatorium.
