A wonderful place to rest, it has a slight lake feeling. Coots, mallards, grey herons, swans and many other waterfowl can be found here.

The Wildungen ruins with the Wildung pond are located in the Brehme area. In 1263 a village called "Wildungen" is mentioned as a fiefdom of Bodenstein. There are various legends surrounding this ruin: A legend says that these are the remains of the church tower of the former Wildungen village church. Another tradition says that there was a stolen castle in Wildungen, which was destroyed by Duke Albert of Braunschweig.

The calm water surface reflects the surrounding vegetation and sky, providing a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and photography.

The reservoir offers a wonderful, relaxing view over the water. A barbecue area, shelters, benches and numerous "feed troughs" offer space for resting, gathering strength and enjoying nature. From time to time an angler, many birds, even gray herons can be observed.

The Schiedungen reservoir, also known as the Großer Teich or Schiedunger Teich, is a reservoir located near Schiedungen in the municipality of Hohenstein on the upper reaches of the Helme.

The 28 hectare reservoir is located immediately south of Schiedungen in the upper Helmetal. The storage facility is just 9 km as the crow flies north of Bleicherode and a good 15 km west of the district town of Nordhausen in the northern Thuringian hill country. On the top of the dam, the state road runs from Schiedungen to Wipperdorf, which means that it is relatively wide.
