Hello Kapparalf, what an interesting story; I am Marc Siemelink from Diepenveen in the Netherlands and according to a cousin the origin of the Siemelink family lies at this farm / fort Symoninck. Do you know or have any references or other information about this?

(The location of the castle was about 100m southeast of the church - so not exactly accurate here) History: The Toerne family appears in the documents from 1189 and from 1223 among the castle guards of Bentheim Castle. It is generally assumed that their original seat was south of the church in Uelsen, but this does not appear in the sources or be located more precisely. In 1399, Count Bern zu Bentheim allowed Hinrik van den Toerne to build and construct a dwelling and fortress for the Symoninck heir. The ruins were blown up in 1626 and have remained as ruins ever since. A small manor house was built to the north of it in 1686, with side wings added in 1762.
