The Schladen quarry lake has an average depth of 26m and a total area of just under 1km². It belongs to Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH and is designated as a fishing lake in a drinking water protection area. The ring trail is very good for biking. Apparently it is also being cared for, as the lawn on the left and right of the path is trimmed short. There are benches at different intervals near the shore for a break. There is a circular path that leads around the 23-hectare pond. The parking lot at the gravel pond offers space for around 20 cars.

If you leave the Philosophenweg after about 1 km coming from the direction of Groß Denkte, a pleasant single trail leads to this still body of water. It is worth taking a break here. The edge of the pond below the bench is ideal for children to fish for pond lenses and observe the pond inhabitants. A small trail leads around the water. In April, if you look closely, you will find a lot of cowslips!
