Originally created for industrial purposes, this lake in the SZ hills is now an idyllic spot, also suitable for gravel biking. Caution: some paths around the lake are difficult to ride due to roots.

The Innerstetalsperre is a dam on the Innerste, which is located near Langelsheim and Wolfshagen in the Harz Mountains. It was built from 1963 to 1966 and belongs to the Harzwasserwerke. Their purpose is to provide drinking water, flood protection, increase low water levels and generate electricity. The average annual discharge from the Innerste Dam is 60 million m³. An approximately 7 km long circular path for pedestrians and cyclists leads around the Innerstetalsperre. Water sports and swimming are permitted, and there are also restaurants and plenty of benches with beautiful views of the dam. The 750 m long dam is the longest dam in the Harz.
